Ellen Rubin
Ellen Rubin is a member of the Board of Directors at Allegion.
As a technology CEO and founder, Ellen has more than 20 years of experience in building and scaling successful businesses and has received numerous accolades for her leadership.
Ellen’s track record includes leading multiple information technology (IT) companies from initial concept and early stages through successful exit, including IPO and acquisition. Her broad range of skills and experience is rooted in embracing entrepreneurship, building culture, identifying new market opportunities and introducing disruptive technology to enterprise customers, both directly as well as through strategic partnerships.
Early in her career, Ellen was an executive team member and vice president of marketing at Netezza, where she built a go-to-market engine and created a new market category (data warehouse appliances) that ultimately helped lead to a successful 2007 IPO. From there, Ellen co-founded CloudSwitch, pioneering the concept of “hybrid cloud computing” to bridge enterprise data centers with the emerging cloud industry. Ellen later led its 2011 acquisition by Verizon, where she was subsequently named vice president of cloud products. In 2014, Ellen started enterprise cloud storage company ClearSky Data, Inc., serving as its CEO until an acquisition by Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2019. At that time, she became general manager for two hybrid cloud services at AWS.
Most recently, Ellen served as CEO of Causely, Inc. (2022-2024) – an IT operations venture she launched in 2022. She also served as a board member of publicly traded Chase Corporation from 2021 - 2023.
Ellen has been recognized as one of the “Top 10 Women in the Cloud” by CloudNOW, as a “Woman to Watch” by Mass High Tech and as a “Rising Star Entrepreneur” by the New England Venture Capital Association. She received an MBA from Harvard Business School.
