On August 19, Allegion’s Maggie Ober, IT manager, was honored as one of the 2021 Tech 25 honorees at the TechPoint/Indianapolis Business Journal (IBJ) CTO of the Year and Tech 25 awards program. The Tech 25 award honors high-achieving individuals who have made significant contributions to their own tech and tech-enabled businesses as well as the community.
This year marks the fifth annual CTO/Tech 25 of the Year program, where 40 men and women who excel at using technology to help their employers achieve their strategic goals were recognized.
Although Maggie was not able to attend the awards ceremony, Jen Sivak, Allegion vice president, Americas IT, accepted the award on Maggie’s behalf during the ceremony and gave a testimonial highlighting Maggie’s dedication to Allegion’s digital transformation. Several of Maggie’s team members also attended the ceremony in her honor.
“Maggie excels at delivering software products and has continuously taken on more responsibility. She has led teams that delivered three major software products that have been instrumental in Allegion’s digital transformation. Her responsibilities have grown from leading one product team to leading three product teams. Maggie is responsible and uses that strength to deliver solutions. Maggie is passionate and positive about her work and excels at building relationships and teams,” Jen remarked.
Maggie leads a team that successfully implemented a custom, cross-functional order entry application that has, by conservative estimates, increased efficiency and productivity of users by approximately 30 percent – on-budget and on-time. Success of this tool has spurred other innovation around order entry/order fulfillment and plans to continue growing and expanding the scope of the tool are in the works. Throughout this process, Maggie fostered cross-team collaboration and relationship development with other IT teams and business units to build respect and comfort working together in new ways.
Maggie is also passionate about giving back to the community and is a key point of Allegion’s long-standing relationship with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Indianapolis. For five years, she has served as the build coordinator for Allegion in Indiana and coordinates over 100 volunteers for various Habitat-related activities each year. Additionally, Maggie served as the membership chair for the Allegion Young Professionals group from 2017-2019, where she was responsible for recruiting and maintaining member participation, has volunteered with Allegion for Ronald McDonald House meal service, and has represented Allegion through volunteerism with Junior Achievement.
