Allegion Senior Vice President of Global Operations and Integrated Supply Chain Cindy Farrer has been named to the U.S. National Association of Manufacturers’ (NAM) Board of Directors. Cindy joins NAM’s Board to bolster the association’s leadership in policy advocacy, legal action, workforce solutions, operational excellence and news and insights – with the overall goal of advancing a manufacturing competitiveness agenda. Her two-year term starts in January 2023, alongside 24 additional new board members.
“I am honored to be a part of the NAM Board and advocate for policies that will help ensure the continued growth and success of manufacturers,” Cindy said. “Even with 12.8 million men and women employed in U.S. manufacturing today, and many others around the world, there’s a skills gap that faces our industry. It will take the hearts and minds of many past, present and future creators to overcome that – and I look forward to sharing my story and the stories of all manufacturers who are working together to make a difference.”
Founded in 1895, the NAM, guided by its board of directors, is the largest industrial trade association in the United States, with more than 14,000 members – including some of the world’s most iconic brands and many of the small manufacturers that power the U.S. economy.
Board members play a key role in the NAM and the Manufacturing Institute’s Creators Wanted campaign. This is a member-driven initiative to inspire, educate and empower more Americans to pursue careers in modern manufacturing – and to shift perceptions about careers in the industry through programs for students, women, veterans and other underrepresented communities.
With more than 35 years of experience in manufacturing, Cindy has been a long-time supporter and active member of NAM, as well as an advocate for manufacturing careers. Most recently, she co-started Allegion’s “MFG Day” celebrations in 2015, which have collectively brought together more than 4,000 students, teachers and community officials to learn about modern manufacturing.
“Cindy is a recognized leader in our industry, and the NAM will be stronger thanks to her service on our board of directors,” said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. “Cindy will be a trusted adviser who guides our efforts to overcome current economic challenges and to lay the foundation for long-term growth, allowing the industry to innovate and improve the quality of life for everyone.”
